The Student Working Seminar in Algebra and Geometry (aka SWAG) is a seminar organized and run by graduate students, for graduate students. The goal of the seminar is to provide graduate students with a space in which to share and discuss topics in Algebra and Geometry that they are interested and learning about. The emphasis of the seminar is in clarity and good understanding of the material, prioritizing them over speed or amount of material covered.
This semester we will be dividing SWAG into several local seminars, each of which will focus on a different topic. This intends to cater towards the wide variety of interests that the graduate students have had in the past, and that a single seminar was unable to satisfy. This semester the local seminars will be:
- Parabolic Geometry with local organizer David Sykes.
- Hyperbolic Geometry with local organizer Petr Naryshkin.
- Representations of Semisimple Lie Algebras with local organizer Arpan Pal.
- D-modules with local organizer Ola Sobieska.
- Hartshorne's Exercises with local organizer Byeongsu Yu.
- Local Cohomology with local organizer Thomas Yahl.
† The global seminar was canceled on March 16 due to COVID-19. |
